Salsa is usually a partner dance form that is associated to salsa music now popular worldwide. The word is the same as the Spanish word salsa meaning sauce, or in this case flavor or style. Salsa music has its origins sometime in the 1950s to 1970s, with the truly distinct salsa style coming out of New York in the 1970s. The music fuses a number of Cuban styles, particularly the son, but also draws from a number of other Latin American musical styles using the maracas, conga drums, and guiros.
Salsa has become one of the hottest trends in recent years and Toronto has one of the best Salsa scenes in the world. It is a great way to meet people and have fun. Not to mention that dancing improves posture and grace, and also a fun way to keep in shape.
We offer different levels of salsa classes depending on your experience. Please consult our instructors regarding which level would be most appropriate for you. We host socials and outings on a regular basis so you will get to practice and show off what you learn!
Music and Dance are important activities to the growth of a child, to develop their self-esteem and to foster their creative expression. Dance should be considered an essential component in your kid's education, the same as math, history and science. Dance allows children to think, feel, express themselves and communicate through body movement, which is a natural way of expression for children.

Argentine Tango
Argentine Tango is a social dance and a musical genre that originated in Argentina and Uruguay. It is commonly confused with Ballroom Tango, which is a later derivation. Argentine tango is a uniquely sweet, romantic, intensely dramatic, exciting, sexy, intimate, mesmerizing dance that is highly improvised. Ballroom tango, on the other hand, tends to be memorized and very staccato and detached. Argentine tango can be either sweet, gentle, soft and flowing, while at other times fast and exciting. The facisnation people have with Argentine tango is the connection that can develop between partners. It is almost as if two become one. In Argentine tango style, dancers are free to frequently pause and enjoy the moment and the music without the need to constantly move rhythmically to the beat. That's what makes Argentine tango so appropriate for a dance of love at wedding receptions and other parties.

Belly Dancing
Belly Dance is the Western name for a dance form from Middle East, known in Arabic as raqs sharqi, wich means Eastern Dance. It is sometimes called oriental dance in Europe, oryantal dansi ("Dance of the East") in Turkey, and "Middle Eastern Dance" in America. This dance really doesn't have anything to do with belly, although it's very much used in the dance.
R&B singer Aaliyah used the belly dance as her signature move, which she called the belly roll.Belly dancing has recently been made widely popular by Shakira, whose dancing combines belly dance, Latino and modern dance styles. Other singers who have performed belly dance in their music videos include Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson.
The benefits of belly dance are both mental and physical. Dancing provides a good cardio-vascular workout and helps increase both flexibility and strength, focusing on the torso or "core muscles", although it also builds leg strength. Many belly dance styles emphasize muscular "isolations", teaching the ability to move various muscles or muscle groups independently. Veil work can also build arm, shoulder, and general upper-body strength, and playing the zils can build strength and independence of the fingers. This is for everyone of all ages, shapes and sizes!
